To initiate and maintain a PPP program, a team of at least one administrator and one to three parent educators must attend a two-day training session. The training is designed for school and community based parent centers that work with families of school-age children. Additional teams from the same program do not require an additional administrator
WHAT IS PPP?
Practical Parenting Partnerships is a comprehensive approach to parent involvement in
schools. PPP offers a framework for
building relationships between schools and families and between parents and
their children. PPP training for
teachers, administrators, parents and others on a school team includes not only
theoretical perspectives and process but also
practical tools and materials to use immediately. Flexibility of design allows local autonomy
in implementing PPP to meet specific needs of a school.
A study conducted in 1999 revealed that schools using PPP show a marked increase in the communication between school and home.
All children will become
responsible and confident individuals and community members who can function to
the best of their abilities in their personal lives, education experiences and
within a complex society.
To enrich children’s lifelong development by strengthening families and their relationships with the school and community through networking, sharing information and participating in cooperative activities.
